Hike to Triple Falls
04/30/13
Here is where we started
Scroll Down for some great Pictures
Going under a falls is always fun
This is not the same falls as in the first picture
this is about one mile further up the trail
Then we come to a bridge
The sign said that the bridge could only hold
"one person at a time".
It reminded me of the Sellwood Bridge.
The Oneonta George is truly amazing
Here we were looking down into the gorge from a viewpoint on the trail(sorry for the poor picture, but you get the idea)
We did not do it, but you can get inside this gorge by putting on sneakers and wading knee-deep up the creek from the highway bridge.
In late summer when the water is not too deep nor too icy,
it's usually possible to trek half a mile throught the 20 ft wide casm to an otherwise hidden 100 foot falls.
There were lots of falls
Here is one of them
This was a wall of moss with lots of "dripping water"
Our primary destination
-- Triple Falls --
Then we came to another more scary bridge
At first I would not go across this bridge,
but upon the urging of others (who carried my poles so that I could hold on) I did it.
Then I did it again on the return trip (less hearth pumping this time).
Finally I walked out on it so they could take a picture, this time I was relaxed.
The moral - even an old dog can learn new tricks
There was even a "pretty" little falls
Flowers were everywhere
When Elmer gets his new books, he will know what they are
How about a white
Dodecatheons (shooting star)
My apologies for the poor picture, but the wind was blowing and I was on a steep bank, holding on for dear life.
We even found some mushrooms
However, they were in a secret place and even we could not again find them on the return trip
It was a great hike
Thanks to those who helped me
cross one of the bridges
