Coprinellus Probably Coprinellus disseminatus

Found 04/30/13 on a hike above Triple Falls in the Gorge
Growing on a Stump -
Very black spore Print
Gills are not free
Stem was hallow and fibrous
Some evidence of a veil on the edge of the cap
Cap does slowly deliquesce
Cap size 3 cm.

Sava says: I don't believe Psathyrella can have so deeply grooved (plicate) caps. It's a "Coprinus", even if the gills are not deliquescing. Coprinellus disseminatus perhaps, though it looks a little too big for it.

My comments:
MushroomExpert.com says that the gills of Coprinellus disseminatus are
"attached to the stem or free from it"

MushroomExpert.com also says that the stem of Psathyrella is "snap-able" Likewise the Key Council site says that the Psathyrella stem "is slender and fragile, often snapping evenly and cleanly in half" My specimen clearly does not have a snappable stem.

Growing on a Stump

The cap was conical when young
and then convex when older
The cap was striate and
hygrophanous
The stipe was hallow and fibrous
The cap is striate and very fragile

Some evidence of a veil on the edge of the cap

The spore print was definitely black

The spores are
5 to 6 microns by
6.5 to 7 microns
