Scientific Name: Polygonum bistortoides

The Western Bistort is a perennial member of the buckwheat family.
However, the leaves are not retained year to year.
The flowers are white or pinkish in dense thick spike.
Flowers have 5 lobes fused only at base, and
eight stamens sticking out, giving the flower a fuzzy look
