Aster (Species ??)

Asters are members of the Sunflower Family

See on hike on the Toutle Trail near Blue Lake on Mt. St. Helens 8/6/13

This is probably an Aster

However, there are about 300 species of Aster in North America

Maybe this is a Douglas Aster

The color in these photos may be deceiving,
If you look at the flowers off to the side of some of the pictures
they are more purple than white.

It is noted that the name Aster, is a Greek word meaning "star". Asters are one of the larger Genera in the Sunflower Family.
