Maybe Western Aster also called Mountain Aster
Scientific Name: Aster occidentalis

Seen on Hike to Mt. St. Helens 8/6/13

There are lots of different Aster species

One thing I note is that this plant has pointed leaves

this and its location leads me to the Mountain Aster
