Hike on the Rogue River Trail
May 3 to May 7, 2015 (four days three nights)
Forty miles total
A raft carried our gear so we just carried a day pack
First I need give tribute to
the heros of this trip
These shoes and our feet
are what allowed us to finish this hike
(the shoes are better looking
than our feet so no pictures of
our feet)

Next, I need note
the weather was gorgeous
The start
This is the raft that carried our backpacks
It is hard to capture the rugged beauty of the Rogue River
in photographs
The trail was quite nice
There were some sharp drop offs
This is
Whisky Creek Cabin
that we stopped to
explore
We met our guide for lunch and he set up a sun shade
and served lunch
The water was a bit cold
but pleasant on the feet
The first night we stayed at Black Bar Lodge
A bit primative
The lodge was primitive
But the two people running it
were "real characters"
The second night we stayed at
the Marial Lodge that is run by
Pat and Lori Cameron:
Lori has worked at the lodge since
she was 13 years old when it was owned by her uncle
The only way to drive to this lodge
is by going over dirt logging roads for over
four hours
They served excellent bread
and Lori just loves to make bread,
as does Joan
Joan has agreed to give
Lori, Joan's 50 year old ceramic
bread making bowl
Lori was delighted since she collects antiques
(see pictures of some of her antiques below)
Joan wanted nothing in return
just that the bowl had a "proper Home".
Lori insisted on giving Joan
a beautiful Marial Lodge shirt.
I urge you to visit it when you stay at the Marial Lodge
(How is the bowl going to get there -- one of Lori's workers has a Portland trip planned)
Some of Lori's antiques
The Shirt that
Lori gave to Joan
The Third night we stayed
at Pardise Lodge
There are no roads to this lodge
but it can be reached by Jet Boat
Jet boats can not go to the other lodges.
Lora Bush had stayed here with a group of her friends.
There are lots of rapids on the Rogue River
Here are pictures of our raft navagating the rapids
The previous pictures showed our raft
These pictures are a different raft going through the rapids
There were lots
of gigantic and
beautiful old growth trees
Can you see the face
of an old indian
Joan did
Joan saw a nude in the woods
There were lots of flowers
I will add flower pictures
when I get them sorted out
There were
Madia elegan Tarweed
Dichostemma congestam Forktooth
Brodiaea - 6 pedals
Nemophila Menziesil - Beeley Blue Eyes
Info on our guide and
