It was a beautiful day
Mt. Hood was sparkling
The Columbia River was calm
Here are the hikers
There were fields of Grass Widows flowers
Formal name: Olsynium douglasii
To take pictures of flowers one must get down near them
There were a few Oregon Sunshine flowers
Also called: Woolly Sunflower
formal name: Eriophyllum lanatum
There were a few special Columbia Desert Parsley flowers
Formal Name: Lomatium columbianum
This variety of Desert Parsely only grows on the Washington side of the Columbia River
After Catherine Creek we hiked along a delightful trail to to Dry Creek Falls
Dry Creek was not very dry

Directions to Catherine Creek
Take I-84 to Hood River
Cross the Bridge at Hood River
Go right on Hwy 14 to Bingen
Stay on Hwy 14 for four and a half miles passed Bigen
At four and a half miles passed Bigen
Go left on Old Highway 8 (that is also Rd 1230)
Go one and a half miles to the Trailhead
