Five Mile hike
Triple Falls and beyond
Saturday, September 19, 2014
At the trailhead, our leader Bridget and our Sheppard John gave instructions
The hike started at Horsetail falls
Next we went under Ponytail falls (also called upper Horsetail Falls)
The views from the trail were great.
After Ponytail Falls, we came to a bridge. At this bridge notice was posted by the
Forest Service saying that only one person at a time could cross this bridge. This caused some concern,
but we proceeded one at a time across the bridge.
We came to a fork in the trail. Fortunately, some kind person wrote in the
direction to triple falls (see bottom line of the sign)
We arrived at triple falls, but we kept going passed the falls
Passed Triple Falls, we had to cross this bridge which didn't make some
people too happy
We had lunch at a delightful spot near the river after we crossed the creek on the bridge

Our leader Bridget near the river
Joan and Elmer signed out of the group after lunch and we went further up the river
through a magnificent old growth forest.
Getting back had its challenges, namely getting down these steps.
Joan wasn't very happy even after arriving at the bottom of the steps.
