Hike on Dickey Creek Trail

The ride in to the trailhead was not too difficult a ride







The Group arrives at the trailhead





This is where the hike begins


The first part of the trail was easy






Someone put logs across the trail to make climbing down much easier and safer


The group was happy to be at the bottom of the climb

But then there was a climb up




We finally got to see Dickey Creek




Was this a Beaver dam




There were wonderful old growth trees and lots of mushrooms






We found a pleasant spot for lunch




For some reason the hike back always seems shorter and easier

Directions

a) Go toward Mt Hood on 212/224
b) At juction of 224 take 224 toward Estacada
c) Drive up Hwy 224 for 26 miles to the Ripplebrook Ranger Station.
d) Past the ranger station, bare right on FR 46 -- go 3.6 miles
e) Turn right onto FR 63 (also called Collwash Rd.) -- go 3.3. miles
f) After 3.3 mile FR 63 splits - take the left hand road (do not go toward Bagby Hotsprings)
g) After 0.2 miles you come to Little Fan Creek Campground parking lot on left with bathroom.
h) Continue on FR 63 for 2.2 miles to FR 6340 on right (It is marked Dickey Creek Trail)
I) Go 2.8 miles on FR 6340-140 on left
J) It is marked Dickey Creek trail. Follow this FR for 1.5 miles.
K) take fork on right which goes to the trail parking area.
