Thursday was a bit wet
But that didn't stop these intrepid hikers
The hike was moved from Mt. Adams to the Middle Salmon River
Thus both the hike and the ramble started from the same place
on The E. Salmon River Road
Here are the ramblers being assembled by their efficient and fearless leader
Here are the hikers being assembled nearby
This is the trail that the hikers followed
The views of the river were wonderful
After following the river for awhile we climbed to a view Point
This trio was happy they were at the top and it was time for lunch
There were lots of mushrooms
There were lots of Russula brevipes
These are edible but they are not choice
This is an interesting mushroom in that may times
it becomes infected by another parasite that turns it orange
and it becomes the sought after Lobster mushroom
Joan and I have gathered Lobster mushrooms and they are wonderful
I will be on a foray in the coast range on Wednesday looking for Lobster mushrooms
This is probalby also a Russula but
I do not yet know the species. I am working on it
This was a lonely solitary mushroom growing on a log
