Scalloped Onion
Also called: Olympic Onion
(Allium crenulatum)

It is noted that the genus Allium contains approximately 850 species.

The genus is perhaps best known from the species that make up the edible food such as onions (Allium cepa), leeks (Allium ampeloprasum), garlic (Allium sativum), scallion (Allium fistulosum relative), and chives (Allium schoenoprasum).

However, there are many more species that are known for their ornamental value and are thus called "ornamental onions". The Allium shown here is one of them.
