Scientific Name: Gentiana calycosa

Gentiana is a herbaceous perennial plant.
It has hardy, thick green leaves and thin red stems.
The leaves are opposite (i.e. glabrous).
Gentiana is named for King Gentius of Illyria, who lived around 500 BC.
It is said to have medical uses
