Her question: Are they edible

Katie said:
I believe these are on a Birch tree.
Does anyone up here eat these kind of Honey mushrooms?
There seems to be conflicting thoughts on edibility.

Just for the record A. ostoyae is now A. solidipes.
The reason there is so much conflicting information is that
some people can eat them without any problem while others
get very sick eating the same meal.
Growing on conifers versus growing on deciduous wood may make a difference.
How much of a gambler are you?
Until you can tell the species apart so that
you know what you are eating I would suggest not eating them.
