Probably Agaricus xanthodermus
or Agaricus axanthodermus
It is not Agaricus arvensis - the Horse Mushroom

found 11/1/14 in a landscaped area around an office building
It stains yellow
But I see no cogwheels on the ring

Judy said: " A. silvicola group (see Arora’s MDM p. 334) or A. arvensis (p.332). Both smell agaricoid-more/less pleasant, and tend to stain yellowish in spots. A. xanthodermus has a phenolic or chemical-type odor and really stains yellow. The 1st two above are edible to many people, but others have usually mild upsets. (Not everyone can tolerate Agaricus species considered edible. Habitat plays a part - whether under conifers or in grass."

Sure would be nice if these were edible

It stains yellow

I can not see a cogwheel on the ring

The cap breaks free of the stipe

The gills are crowded

The stipe is hollow

The edges of the cap are a bit striated
