Boletus Smithii
found 8/28/14
East of Mt. Hood at 4500 feet elevation
It it edible ????
Some references say it is edible -- others are tentative
Sava said: I grilled one B. smithii today and tried it with Richard and Karen Tullis.
We all found it disagreeable.
To me it had a kind of metallic taste and I had to spit it out.
I remember a very similar taste in a beautiful-looking red Leccinum,
also grilled, a few years ago.
