Is this Boletus smithii

Found on East side of Mt Hood
at about 4000 ft Elevation
In duf under Doug Fir and Hemlock

Cap is scaly in the center and
Wine-red around the edges
Cap is dry not viscid
The pores bruise blue
The stipe is non-reticulate
The stipe is red at the apex and yellowish at the base

Boletus rubripes is similar in shape, but it has a buff-brown cap and a stipe that is red at the base and yellowish at the apex. ----scroll down for more pictures ----





Stipe is redish at top
It is not reticuate



It stains blue
