Cortinarius violaceus

A gorgeous, somewhat rare, edible mushroom.
Edible but nice choice
It has a mild taste, with a slight smell reminiscent of cedar-wood.
Found 9/26/13 near the McKenzie River

The cap was about 5 inches across and somewhat scaly.

It was very dark purple almost black.

The gills were notched

The cap was totally dark violet, could be described as blue- black
There was a bulb at the bottom of the stipe
