Velvet Footed Pax

The Velvet Footed Pax is a beautiful mushroom

The Velvet-footed Pax has a stem that some say looks like the fur of a mouse or that of a wooly-bear caterpillar.

This mushroom is not edible, although some people apparently do eat it with no ill effects.

The velvet footed Pax grows on stumps of conifers tree.

It has some characteristic of oyster mushrooms such as 1)gills running down an off-center stem, and 2) growing in clusters. However. the velvet footed Pax is easily recognized by it very unique feature, that is, it has an extremely hairy stem.
