Eight Mile Hike 5/26/16
Storey Burn Trail

Jeanine said;

This is a rigorous 8.5 mile loop hike with 1400 ft. cumulative gain (i.e. elevation before and after lunch!) The up and down trail is in very good shape and mostly in the shade; I advise walking poles if you use them. We cross 10 footbridges and the flower lovers among us will be delighted.

Park at Rodger's Camp
Cross Hwy 6 to trailhead

Native Oregon Blackberry

There are three kinds of black berries growing in our area, one native, the wild black berry and two introduced species, the Himalayan and cutleaf or evergreen blackberry. The native wild or trailing blackberry and the Himalayan blackberry are very common. The cutleaf blackberry is less common.

The wild blackberry, the most delicate of the three species, has relatively thin prickly vines that often trail along the ground or over fallen logs. The white or sometimes pinkish flowers are five-petaled, the petals narrower than the more rounded ones on the Himalayan berry flowers.

2) Drive 19 miles on Hwy 6
