Directions to the trailhead
1) Take I-5 North
2) From I-5 take exit 21 marked- Hwy 503 - Woodland and Cougar.
3) Take Hwy 503 23.4 miles to the junction of 503 Spur
4) That Hwy 503 Spur to Cougar.
5) Drive passed Courgar for 12 miles
.... (note: after 8.6 503C becomes FR 90
.. you will pass the Lewis River Levee)
6) turn left on FR83 -
... sign says Ape Cave, Climbers Bvouac and June Lake
7) Drive 11.3 miles on FR83 -
... you will pass the turnoffs to Ape Cave, Climbers Bivoucas and June lake.
8) turn left into a small paved area at Ape Conyon Trailhead.
.. Note, the Ape Canyon traihead is 0.2 miled prior to the Lava Canyon Traihead
.. where there are retrooms, picnic tables and the Lava Canyon Loop Hike. 9) Northwest Forest Pass required at the parking area.
