Seven and a half mile hike
on the Deschutes River Trail
March 20. 2014

----scroll down to see some pictures ----

Here is a map of the route we hiked.

The group assembles to count off

We thank
former Governor Atiyeh
for preserving this beautiful land

On the trail

Some deer are
are also out for a hike

A couple of hikers on the trail

Here are some of the views.

The land is both desolate and beautiful

We stopped for lunch along the river

Some of the more
adventuresome in the group
wanted to cross the river
on this bucket line
Our leader wouldn't allow it

We came upon the site of
an old homestead
This is all that remained

This is a solar powered Antenna used to track tagged fish going up the river

There were quite a few flowers

The shooting star is my favorite

Proably a Henderson or
Broad Leaved shooting star
Dodecatheon Hendersonii

Lots of Desert Parsley

Lupin was growing but not yet flowering

There were lots of these

Redstem filaree,
Common stork's-bill or Pinwee

Finally the Group is on the way back to the cars for the long ride home
